Happy New Year!

January Yarn of the Month - Exotic Animals!

Our 15% off yarns for January are cashmere, angora, and camel blends.  These are some of the most luxurious and soft fibers around!  Some of the yarns included are:

  • Noro Kochoran - a self-striping angora blend with a lovely light halo, pictured at the right
  • Grignasco Cashmere - a 100% cashmere worsted-weight yarn - so soft!
  • Classic Elite Lush - a 50/50 wool/angora blend, great for hats
  • Ella Rae Kamelsoft - 75% merino, 25% cashmere - a nice and soft yarn in beautiful dark blues, greens, and browns

Class: Basic Hat on Circular Needles

This is the perfect class for a beginning knitter who has made a scarf and is ready to tackle a circular project.  You'll learn how to knit in the round using circular needles, while making a basic beanie.  Necessary supplies are worsted-weight yarn and the recommend needle size for that yarn in a 16" circular.  Saturday, January 16th, 10AM-12PM, $35, taught by Lorraine.

"Spinning" Yarns - Stories and Poetry

Join us for a night of storytelling and poetry reading on Monday, January 25th from 6-8PM.  This is a free event, and friendly for non-crafting friends.  But we still encourage you to bring your needles, hooks, or spindles!  Bring a snack to share, we'll provide drinks.

1st Ever Project Contest!

We are really excited to be organizing our first ever customer project contest!  Here is the scoop:

  1. The three categories are: Small Projects (scarves, hats, gloves, bags), Sweaters and Tanks, and Socks.
  2. Each person may submit one project entry per category.
  3. The entry must contain yarn from Yarns at the Adobe.
  4. The entry must have been completed in 2009, or by the submission deadline in 2010.
  5. The submission deadline is February 28th.
  6. Projects will be displayed in the shop for the month of March, until the 31st.
  7. Yarn and pattern info will be displayed, but not names.
  8. Anyone who visits the shop through March 22nd may vote once, one vote per category.
  9. Winners will be announced on March 24th, there will be one winner per category.
  10. The winners each get a $50 gift certificate!

Mama Bear Friday Mornings

We're taking a break from charity knitting for a few months, but continuing to meet and knit whatever project you wish on Friday mornings at 10AM.  Everyone is welcome, it's a nice group to knit with!  Projects for the homeless will resume again in the spring.
